I don’t know why this bug is 26 years old, given that for decades window restoration has worked perfectly well on X11. It seems that an old bug report has been reused for a problem that appears identical but is entirely different in terms of its causes. > I'm struck by how complicated > most people think this is. To me, it *should* just be a matter of saving all > the internal data KDE uses to manage the display whenever it is asked to > shut down. It’s not complicated at all; it worked perfectly on X11. This was not provided for on Wayland, and it took a a couple of decades to write, discuss and approve a protocol, which is already be implemented by kwin but, in reality, is not working. > I realize there may be, and likely is in many cases, a lot of this data. We’re talking about a few dozen bytes per window… negligible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335761 Title: Placement policy 'Remember' by default for all windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/335761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
