On 26.04: I can confirm that build works there. I'm running it on a Dell
Latitude 7420 (BCM58200, 0a5c:5843) on Ubuntu 26.04, and both enrol and
fprintd-verify work, including GDM login. That's with the current
5.15.285 binary, so I take your point that a future Broadcom update
could change things.

Thanks for the debian/watch pointer too. I'll track upstream from there
for any future version bumps rather than pinning the OEM-channel build.
