Do you get a kdump crash log in /var/crash when this happens? I suspect the problem is the thunk-Kbuild.patch change applied to the driver build by the nvidia-graphics-drivers-595 package. I couldn't find the origin of that patch but my guess is that it was intended to work around CONFIG_OBJTOOL_WERROR=y. That flag isn't set in the latest kernels so the patch shouldn't be needed anymore.
