To clarify the intent here - this isn't entirely all kernel. The kernel needs to provide the information to userspace and then userspace can make a decision.
The patches are queued up in drm-misc-next (targeted to 7.1 kernel). https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/misc/kernel/-/commit/42dab3138176a944b09996441d837986f9ef13f8 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/misc/kernel/-/commit/5d9d1247b2d5aa75ceccc9f9a915d4ed1109a205 They are low risk though; they just provide the information for userspace to action. I feel that they should be backported to enable the development of the userspace side of this (which is currently proposed as gnome-initial-setup). ** Also affects: gnome-initial-setup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2143203 Title: Adopting dark mode by default for OLED panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-initial-setup/+bug/2143203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
