ethana2, I am used to nano. I am familiar with the xorg.conf structure. I got my X work to some extent. I had to do the following kind of monitor section (that depend on the monitor model): Section "Monitor" Identifier "Panasonic TX-D1562F" HorizSync 30-69 VertRefresh 50-160 Option "PreferredMode" "1152x864" Option "DRI" "off" EndSection
I am using the suggested ati driver. I don't get hardware acceleration because of the latter option in the "Monitor" section, though. And my Xfce desktop becomes grey for a while now and then.
