Public bug reported:
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: from System -> About Ubuntu
Ubuntu Studio 24.04
2) The version of the package you are using, via checking in Software Center
Snap V. 24.8.5.2 (X86_64) [Confirmed by Writer >> About LibreOffice]
but containing Start Center; v. 24.2.7.2 [ Not! v. 24.8.5.2 ]
[Confirmed by LibreOffice-Start-Center >> About LibreOffice]
3) What you expected to happen
1. Open LibreOffice-Start-Center
2. Click on Any of the Six Create: <options>
3. The option [Writer] or any other to open while the Start Center Closes
4. Writer or any of the others to function as expected
Separately
1. Click on [Open File], [Remote Files], [Recent Documents], & [Templates]
2. Find they Open and function as expected.
3. Navigate to
/usr/lib/
4. Find libswlo.so present.
4) What happened instead
1. Open LibreOffice-Start-Center
2. Click on Any of the Six Create: <options>
3. A pop-up appears containing:
---------------------------------------
Component cannot be loaded, possibly broken or incomplete installation.
Full error message:
loading component library <file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/libswlo.so>
failed at ./cppuhelper/source/shlib.cxx:312.
-----------------------------------------
4. Clicking [OK] closes the pop-up leaving the Start Center open.
5. Click on [Open File], [Remote Files], [Recent Documents],
& [Templates] in succession.
They are found to function as expected
6. Close the Start Center.
7. Open a File Manager
8. Navigate to
/usr/lib/
9. Find libswlo.so is not present.
Found Synaptic Package Manager does not manage Snap Packages.
Question: Is there a Snap equivalent that can be used to
find remove and install individual components as
can be done in Synaptic Package Manager??
Note: This may or may not be a factor
** LibreOffice Snap v. 24.8.4.2 installs an older version of the Start
Center; v. 24.2.7.2 instead of Ubuntu's v. 24.2.7 previously installed
which I removed to install the snap version above From the Discover app.
I may be rightly presuming the 2.7.2 is an update of 2.7
The important question in my mind is why Snap v. 24.8.4.2 installs v. 24.2.7.2
of of the Start Center?
[If this is proven to not be a factor here I need to file a separate bug
report.]
