This is an update on the situation with the driver. - the backported patch done very early in this process is still applied and seems to still be improving the situation - after keeping only one instance running, we stopped having locking issues -- this is an open question because we think the driver should support multiple instances, even only for HA purposes, but that will be a separate conversation - creating lots of machines with boot volumes at the same time does not block or timeout anymore - sometimes a volume deletion hangs -- it seems to get the lock, not finish and not return the lock, making the next ones to stay queued but not finish as well. If you restart the cinder-volume service, it retries and eventually succeeds deleting the ones that were still queued.
We would like now to focus on the investigation of why the volume deletions fail. I'm attaching more logs that show that happening.
