Thanks -- that clarifies pretty much everything I wanted to know. After
a brief bit of investigation it seems running `update-grub` with `||
true` is also common practice in non-grub packages (e.g. plymouth and
mdadm both do this in their maintscripts), and the rationale for
splitting out the non-grub package also makes good sense.

With the lintian bits fixed up, I'll be happy to sponsor this!
