Public bug reported: A fresh install of Ubuntu 24.10 (also Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) with default partitioning (doesn't matter if encryption is used or not) results in "Invalid partition table!" on Dell E7440 (legacy boot without Secure Boot enabled).
The system still boots normally after pressing Enter. This is regression as it didn't happen on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. This seems to affect especially Dell computers: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1532686/24-04-fresh-install-invalid- partition-tableat-startup ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.10 Package: ubiquity (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.11.0-9.9-generic 6.11.0 Uname: Linux 6.11.0-9-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.30.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Dec 8 10:41:47 2024 InstallCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.11.0-9-generic root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv ro quiet splash crashkernel=2G-4G:320M,4G-32G:512M,32G-64G:1024M,64G-128G:2048M,128G-:4096M vt.handoff=7 InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-12-08 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 24.10 "Oracular Oriole" - Release amd64 (20241009.4) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oracular wayland-session ** Attachment added: "Output of sudo fdisk -l" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2091233/+attachment/5842866/+files/fdisk.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2091233 Title: Installing live Ubuntu results in "Invalid partition table!" on Dell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/2091233/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
