As far as I know you can just install the dev Version alongside your normal 
verison (https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html).
Your stable release should be untouched. If you wanna be especially safe, you 
might not wanna open any of your documents without making a copy of them but I 
honestly don't think there is any risk involved if you don't save changes.
