Here are some new findings:
At the moment I guess it is a problem with gtk3. Here is what I found:

- I installed gtk3-demo and run the tabs demo. The freezing happens.
- I installed gtk4-demo and run the tabs demo. Everything is fine.

I also tried other demos of gtk3 and gtk4 and gtk3 always freezes and
gtk4 not.

Some mystic is, that >ldd /usr/bin/gnome-control-center | grep gtk lists gtk
version 4 libs but it freezes.
But also >ldd /usr/bin/gnome-disks @ grep gtk lists gtk3 and it feezes.
But >ldd /usr/bin/gnome-calculator | grep gtk lists version 4 and it works
without freezing.

Also Apps using QT like Digikam or calibre do not freeze at all.

So at which point is my gtk3 installation broken somehow after having
done >do-release-upgrade
