My Nautilus installation's search feature was dead as a doorknob. Thanks to this thread, it works again: I uninstalled and purged Tracker, bounced my terminal just to make sure, then reinstalled Tracker and its related packages. Bingo: Nautilus search is working correctly now. I also added a similar comment to Bug 247286 over on Bugzilla - looks like the same problem.
Tracker was running before I started this repair.
