* The nouveau log messages you mention are a kernel bug. It looks like
that could explain this bug, maybe. If so then you need a different
kernel.
* The patches you mention are not new in the new version of plymouth.
They only got "refreshed". They're almost certainly not relevant.
* Please try to install an official Nvidia driver via the 'Additional
Drivers' app. The latest version of the Nvidia driver that supports the
GTX 465 is version 390.
* Please provide a full system log from when the bug occurred by
running:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot-1.txt
journalctl -b-2 > prevboot-2.txt
journalctl -b-3 > prevboot-3.txt
and attach the resulting text files here.
