I think `lxd image export` is still able to produce the usual files, but it stopped accepting a directory as a target (I'll file a bug, let's see). So a different fix could be changing directory to output_dir and then running `lxc image export`. I think subp() doesn't support changing directories, but this could be done with a `sh -c` or something.
