Timo, The HWCursor option solved the problem for me.
Sorry about the incorrect application of the Milestone. I saw the ATI one of the same milestone and figured if it wouldn't hurt to have a matching nVidia one. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done to get future Live CD's to detect the offending models and set that option? I haven't looked into how Ubuntu generates its xorg.conf file on boot yet.
