The invisible login prompt is a similar but different bug. I've come across both. The initial bug froze the computer completely and required a hard reboot. I've not experienced this problem since I adjusted the SyncToVblank setting in compiz. I do occasionally get the invisible login prompt and am able to log in and continue as usual. Hope this helps.
