It seems like seperate issues. The lockups seems, to me, to be related
to MWAIT and misconfigured C-states. Have you taken a look at your dmesg
after a boot without idle=halt, if you get the error "[Firmware Bug]:
ACPI MWAIT C-state 0x0 not supported by HW (0x0)"?
