Public bug reported: Ever since I installed Lubuntu Next 17.10, Nemo does not highlight text in a filename that is being renamed.
if I move the mouse pointer to a part of the text, left-click-n-drag to the end of a section of text, and then ctrl-x, the "selected" text disappears, and when I then ctrl-v, it reappears (either in the same place, or in a different one, if I click somewhere else). If when I first select "rename", I immediately hit "spacebar", all text disappears except for the extension, just as expected, but in every case I am "flying blind", as nothing is ever highlighted. In looking to see if anyone else had had the same problem (and hopefully solved it), I came across the following, in which "Arch Stanton asked Jul 26 '17 at 15:33" the same question, without any response there: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/381952/nemo-doesnt-highlight-selected-text-when-renaming There is no info there as to OS version, or Nemo version... I find no bug report, so am doing so now. This happens in Icon View, and Compact View, but NOT List View, which a selection IS highlighted.
