*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1528915 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528915
I understand. Reporting bugs is messy and more complicated than many of us would like. Also this feature is not one that Ubuntu would have chosen to implement. We just inherited it from Gnome. I marked this bug as invalid because the way it is worded is presently invalid (not a bug at all, but a feature). As mentioned in comment #2, if you would like to convert this into an enhancement request then it needs to be reworded significantly or replaced by a new bug report. I will try to do that now for you so that you don't need to... ** Summary changed: - Launcher transparrency is applied to the top bar, invisible icons. + Make the panel and dock transparency configurable ** Description changed: - The new launcher in Ubuntu 17.10's gnome-shell setup has auto - transparency... but this is also applied to the top bar, which it was - not in Unity. + Make the panel and dock transparency configurable. - As a result, using a light background makes the light icons in the bar - almost invisible. + Some people prefer them more opaque, some prefer more translucent, and + some prefer that the appearance doesn't change at all. - The top bar transparency should not be linked to the launcher, and - probably there should not be transparrency on the top bar. - - It would also be nice if there was a slider to control the level of - transparrency in the launcher. - - See attached image of near invisible icons. + This was all configurable in Unity and it would be helpful if Ubuntu + users of Gnome Shell could continue to do the same. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730195 Title: Make the panel and dock transparency configurable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1730195/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
