... And indeed after 2-3 hours of real usage of the trunk madwifi driver, I have found it to spontaneously stop routing packets. It still thinks it's connected, and can still see the AP, but nothing moves; which is probably (though I didn't check the logs at the time as I needed to get stuff done and rebooted into OSX) due to the problems mentioned above.
