Hello Ludovico,

For something so simple, I find manipulating the results of the scripts can 
help.  They are in /var/lib/dpkg/info/ and have names like <package>.prerm 
and <package>.postinst etc....

remove --purge is rather extreme.  Have you simply tried removing the pid file 
in /var/run/??
