I tried turning off DRI, and while the issue went away (or at least lessened), I then became unable to resume from suspend-to-RAM (no video appeared). This happened spontaneously with DRI enabled, but happened all the time with DRI disabled. Thus, I feel that using i810 is a more recommendable workaround at the moment. The good news is that I can close the bug I filed regarding suspend-to-RAM - I was sure it was the -14 kernel update, but evidently it is in fact the "intel" driver.
