No, I don't expect --no-migration-assistant to be that discoverable,
though I have noticed that when people do have an issue with m-a,
they'll go to the forums where they're told to run ubiquity with this
option, and not told to file a bug.

Gutsy is drawing near and it's quite late in the cycle to make such a
significant change to the UI (assuming I could convince the release manager to
let me make it in the first place), the only option as this point seems to be:
1. Fix as many m-a bugs over the next few days as possible. This should not be
difficult as there are many duplicates and I am already aware of the the cause
of the bugs where log files are posted.
2. Make sure as I fix bugs that exceptions and other traps are added so that if
m-a fails in any way, the install can proceed. This is already done in several
areas. You'll notice that if an import routine crashes, it does not crash the
installer.

I am still not behind the idea of adding the prompt. It somewhat goes
against the Ubuntu principal of presenting a reasonable set of defaults
rather than popping up a bunch of question dialogs in the user's face.
Once migration-assistant is stable it would simply be a duplication of
clicking next past the m-a page, and I am quite confident that m-a will
be stable upon the final release.

I also think that m-a's current location is best, as it is closely tied
to creating users (the next page). They can already choose whether or
not to import by clicking next past the m-a page. There is also a
specification that I am set to work on for Hardy where users will also
be able to run an independent migration-assistant program from their
desktop. But we'll see where that ends up when tasks are prioritized
after UDS Boston.

To sum up, I simply don't think it's reasonable to work around bugs with
UI changes.

No worries I am not questioning your appreciation for my work or Ubuntu.
As I said in the original post, I completely understand your frustration
and I am well aware that if the final release goes out and someone
cannot get through the install for whatever reason, it will sour them to
Ubuntu, which is why my time has been almost entirely focused on bug
fixing.
