After a break of ~2 weeks during which I did not use my laptop with
16.04, I started it today (remember, before I did all the stuff you told
us, see msgs before).

According to your message #119, I have done the following today:

1.
sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade 
reboot 
=> nothing changed, all menus worked well

2.
sudo rm 
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/3v1n0-ubuntu-xenial-missing-menus-tests-xenial.list
sudo apt-get install indicator-appmenu/xenial
reboot
=> nothing changed, all menus work still quite well ...

Let me know if you need some files ... .
