I've been using the http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ to test and narrow down which kernels are good and where the bug was introduced. I'm not sure i'm following the protocol for the bisect stuff exactly, but so far my narrowing has produced these preliminary results. I am testing 4.1 again right now, but the first time i had no problems. Once i look at the bisect information christopher provided i might be able to narrow it down even more.
