> Can you expand on what you mean by it will not be consistent at all? sorry, forgot that bit -- I meant that every other network device has a "location" based name now (BIOS-assigned slot, PCI enumeration number, etc.) and thus are stable/predictable across (re)installations, and don't need persistent state in /etc.
