When you want to enable the functionality that is dependent to this library, you could place a popup window asking if the user wants to install the library and then prompt for sudo password (if in debian or ubuntu, and then install it)... or something like that... otherway i think that if it's a functionalitty of listen it needs to be a dependency... or you could think like this:
