@richard: what can we do ? i am no expert in this either. But my guess is supporting this thread: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109051 is the right thing to do, cause it is the bugreport at the right place, meaning the kernel bug list. This thread here is a ubuntu bug report, and actually ubuntu is not the problem.
