I installed the kernel 4.3.0-040300rc6-generic x86_64 The system froze within an hour of rebooting.
After reboot, the following error was reported (in >10 separate popup windows) BUG: Bad page state in process xampp-linux-x64 pfn:1b9e24 I used the first one (underneath all the others) to send a bug report. I should have mentioned above that I am using a skylake processor.
