I was able to reproduce the issue. The installer modifies the disk before prompting the user to confirm the updates. There are some more detailed steps written in the forum post here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2268437&p=13369075#post13369075

The installer will erase any current LVM information in your partitions. After this, you are prompted with "Are you sure you want to continue" warning. At this selecting "Cancel" is of no use, because the next reboot the system will fail to boot because the LVM info was changed incorrectly. I expect the "Cancel" operation to leave my disk unmodified. Thanks. ** Description changed: Verified on 14.04.3 - As reported here: - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2268437&p=13367652 + As reported here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2268437 If you select "Erase System Disk" and "Enable LVM" option and "Continue".
