I could not figure out what it exactly did. After I dumped the LVM2 metadata, I could see that it erased all of the logical volumes, volume group and physical volume. LVM save a buffer of all the changes and I was able to recover the original state. However, after rebuilding the PV with the old UUID and importing the old VG and LV configs some of my LV file systems were corrupted and could not be recovered. One of the old LV mounted correctly with all data, however this was not the one I was hoping to get back.
I'm sure the next person that hits this will really appreciate it if you could fix this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1502719 Title: Desktop installer erases LVM partition without warning or undo, data loss To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1502719/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
