Unfortunately, a large number of packages description in adept-installer are in English (due to lack of appropriate translations). Your problem happens with English description that shows garbage characters, but only with Japanese language. Please post the output of command line "locale" (without quotes) and search if other packages have this problem in installer? Do you have similar issues in other applications?
