Sorry for the late reply. I cleared out /var/log/samba and restarted
the service so I had fresh logs. My client computer isn't available at
the moment so I've been connecting locally through smb://127.0.0.1.
Anyway, I have these files in /var/log/samba: cores log.127.0.0.1
log.laptop log.nmbd log.smbd. The cores folder is pretty much empty.
log.127.0.0.1 is empty. Here are the contents of the rest of the logs:

---log.laptop---
[2007/09/20 18:19:38, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(1033)
laptop (127.0.0.1) connect to service DOCUMENTS initially as user nobody
(uid=65534, gid=65534) (pid 3221)
[2007/09/20 18:23:22, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(1230)
laptop (127.0.0.1) closed connection to service DOCUMENTS

*Documents is a share in my home folder that I made for testing
purposes. No log entry is created when I try to access the Movies
share.

It doesn't seem to me that there is any help in the logs, but maybe you see
something I don't. I did upgrade to gutsy, but it's still giving the exact
same behavior.
