Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

after the recent xserver-xorg-video-ati package upgrade few days ago, my
dual-head setup broke;
I got a

0000:00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350
[Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]

in my notebook (internal panel 1440x960), with an external DVI port to
which I attach an external 1600x1200 panel in mergedfb configuration;
this worked fine with version 6.6.193-1ubuntu1 (I assume this was the
previous version, since that's the only one I could find in the apt
repository) of xserver-xorg-video-ati;

but now it doesn't properly work anymore, the external display becomes
black and the desktop doesn't extend to it anymore;

see attached logfiles for more
