I'm getting the same problem with Ubuntu 7.10 Sep 20th daily alternative CD install (GUI CD was crashing post partitioning). Its on 0% and says "setting the clock", then the system freezes and requires a hard reset.
My hardware core2duo 6600 with Asus p5n32 SLI SE latest firmware. 2G RAM, trying to install on SATA.
