I'm afraid that I don't think the manner of your request was
appropriate: if your experience of a particular Ubuntu resource was
not good, it's important to address it properly, rather than just take
the attitude that it can't be improved and trying to make the resource
less visible. That's not the Ubuntu way.

Beginners are usually not familiar with any of those three things. I
personally think the three types of resource are equally valuable,
although possible mailing lists are more difficult for complete
beginners. Probably complete beginners will not be familiar with web
forums either, although they may have encountered instant messaging on
sales websites (don't forget that irc is just instant messaging and
the default client in Ubuntu is a friendly graphical one (pidgin).

Anyhow, my point in the original response was that the order of
resources in that web page does not set any priority, it allows users
to choose whichever resource they feel more comfortable with. It's
probably not that useful to debate the relative merits of each
resource, they are all helpful. But if there is a problem with one of
them, we should aim to fix it.
