wontfix doesn't mean it won't ever happen.  Currently there are
virtually no packages coming directly into Ubuntu.  They are almost all
going into Debian where there is a dedicated maintainer first.  It's
unlikely in the extreme that any Ubuntu developer would upload this to
the official archive.  Upstream provides a Debian style package people
who are interested can use.  If you're interested in the package, you
can always provide it via a PPA.
