@Alberto Milone Setting the nogpumanager parameter on boot didn't help. Symptoms same. I tried purging everything and then installing just the nvidia-331 package (which installed some others together) and then rebooted (with the nogpumanager parameter removed) but got a "Your system is running on low graphics mode" message and a totally non-functional environment. Purged nvidia package and I am back with my system working but with my nvidia chipset unusable and probably also active and consuming power? Anyway, what should I do to give you some useful debug logs?
