I have also experienced this bug upgrading to Kubuntu 14.04 from the release upgrader (wish now I hadn't).
I have a 64GB SSD with /boot as /dev/sda1 and / on an LVM LV on the SSD. /home is then on a 300GB SATA drive. It is possible that there was a grub installation on this drive previously. I have upgraded kernels on this machine previously - so grub would have been re-run. However, I did not get the problem I have now until I upgraded Ubuntu. To me, this bug affects the ubuntu upgrader. I now have a dead system and have to go looking for a USB boot key. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1289977 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in "error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1289977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
