What version of synaptic do you have, and what architecture? Can you provide a detailed description of what happens after you click the item in the suggested/recommended menu? Is the suggest/reg'd pkg and its dependencies grayed out from now on, as if they have been added? Does the Apply button become available when you choose a suggested/recommended package? Does it even register at all?
