So a missing  "name" attribute would explain why the current rule
wouldn't create a symlink, but this should not  have worked with the
older udev either. I guess that's true and we just misunderstood each
other at first? So you confirm that if you provide a name, /dev/virtio-
ports/org.libguestfs.channel.0 actually does exist, but libguestfs
cannot access it somehow?
