I run Ubuntu 13.04 on Thinkpad W530 with 256GB SSD. After upgrading to kernel 3.8.0-26 I have a black screen with cursor in place of lightdm. Lightdm works well if I boot with elder kernels.
The solutions of posts #5 (sleep 10) and #48 (respawn) are useless, the solution of post #12 (and stopped udevtrigger) freezes the system.
