Okay, so, notine Jorge Garcia from 2007-07-09, I stopped the powernowd service to see what would happen. Lo and behold, I haven't had the problem since. Not great for power consumption but I'm on a desktop. Thus this has become a fairly low priority for me, and I'm in the middle of getting ready to move from Boston to Los Angeles, so I probably won't look at this again for a while, but I'll keep monitoring this thread and when I get settled there I'll try to figure it out.
