This computer is my primary Audio Production/Video Production pc. PLUS- Often I do live DJ Broadcasting over the Internet. Using IDJC Internet DJ Console v0.8.4 (no Microsoft in the house since 2007) CPU runs about 90% of the time at 100% because of Processes "doodle (NICE= +10)", "python", "gvfsd-metadata". Even still, IDJC runs stable. GUI freezes. Drives me nuts. But still runs stable. *Thanks to Stephen Fairchild. idjc.sourceforge.net - Skype install gone, hopefully. Dec 24th 2012, I googled keywords "skype spyware". Coincidentally my '1 year Skype' subscription expired. Logged in bank account. SkypeMicrosoft had put a $56 yearly renewal fee -PLUS- $8.99 "International fee charge". I was absolutely livid. Assumed it ran out Christmas Eve. Moving forward, got Paypal/SkypeMicrosoft/Bank to credit back the charges. -OFF TOPIC: did you know Microsoft packed up, moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands overnight? Just KIDDING! Logged in Skype.com/login. Except for Skype TOS, there is NO MENTION of Microsoft, Redmond, WA, a contact phone number/email address/etc or ANY Customer Service contact. Except a phone number in Holland and an email address. Guessing NOBODY calls them at International Rates... hrmm. SkypeMicrosoft DID MAKE GOOD on the credit. :) Was a very crappy Christmas present though. -Opinion- Microsoft bought Skype from eBay for $8.5 BILLION dollars, more money than God could afford -PLUS- same day, applied for patents on software to do, who knows. Sinister and other things(?) My impression is MS put a HUGE BUFFER between them and Skype. Possibly to avoid U.S. laws, while they record EVERY call, IM Text chat, USB Cam to "... deem using at Microsofts discretion..". No wonder Skype's free, MS makes kickass Linux version and very eager to get millions more to download the "Free" version. - Back on topic... i used 'Ubuntu Software Center' uninstalled Skype. NEXT: nuked /home/david/.skype Folder which it leaves behind. Logged in as "root". Checked, found another /.skype folder in ROOT Login! Jesus! what sinister things was /.skype folder doing in root? - Worth Mention: I HAVE NOT used any software Email programs FOR YEARS. (Thunderbird Mail, etc) But, found "pickup, sendmail, postfix, etc" Processes running past few weeks. After (fingers crossed) getting MS's spyware off that and this PC. Seems somewhat suspicious. I don't believe skype/MS has any bearing on this issue.... OR..... could it? Shrugs - Steps I took since submitting this ticket: Deleted Virtual World programs Kokua/Imprudence and Firestorm Viewers, used for Second Life/OSGrid/Inworldz. (since I don't really need them on that pc). Hate sounding like a 'black helicopter conspiracy theorist'. Hoping there's a simple solution, my nerves will calm from Microsoft wrecking my Christmas and the world will be just fine.
