I am running 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-35-generic-pae (32 bit) on a Dell E521 AMD dual core machine. I have experienced hard locks (IE a power off job) and partial locks (still responds to raw keyboard mode commands Ctrl+Alt+Sys Req+r etc). The last hard lock was a few days ago. But this is always triggered by compiz. Often compiz will crash and offer to send a report and restart, but the locks are always triggered by this action:- Click on Dash button, type in search characters, and then: *click on a result*. Its always that final click (to start or spawn somthing) that causes the lock in my case. This is an upgrade from 10.04 and I have an nvidia Geforce 210 card with the "version-current updates" driver. This is my work PC, and its sad to say I have never had such an unstable box.
