For me, lots of time it freezes totally (keyboard lights blink, no mouse, no keyboard, no ssh) while working with just firefox, I don't use chrome, no compiz, and no unity. I log in using Gnome Classic (no effect) Many times although not all the time, I previously play some video, either MP4 from my harddrive or streaming from internet such as youtube. Lots of times it also happens while soundcard is playing something. And hard crash happens with the sound keep repeating until it reboots.
Asus Mainboard, Core2Duo, Geforce 7600, 2GB ram. Nvidia 3.04.64 and kernel 3.6.3-030603-generic I still don't know whether this is a kernel or ubuntu problem only. I kind of suspect the problem has to do with driver (network or sound or nvidia).
