Good to hear that a solution is very near now. I am working with 12.04, so I will indeed test the bug fix in proposed as it is released.
With the tray icon activated (i.e. "Enable systray quicklauncher" checked under Options - LibreOffice - memory) I was not able to trigger the issue when opening and closing documents.
