Thanks for looking at this bug.

I put the Plymouth log commands on the linux line, along with splash.
Log attached.

Note in no case does splash appear.  I'm entering this from Quetzal Beta
which does show a splash screen and boots normally.  Boots O.K. then
copy the log from the partition with the 12.10 release level.

12.10 release never shows a splash screen whether splash is in the linux
line or not.  Never any cursor.

Esc key does a little hard drive activity.  Still solid purple screen.

Ctrl-Alt-F1 same purple screen, no cursor.  does some hard drive activity.  I 
can blindly log in, password, sudo reboot, password and it does.
I can also Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then hold down Ctrl-Alt-Del which does reboot.

Anything to try?  I can re-do the log if it would be useful.
