Thanks for looking at this bug. I put the Plymouth log commands on the linux line, along with splash. Log attached.
Note in no case does splash appear. I'm entering this from Quetzal Beta which does show a splash screen and boots normally. Boots O.K. then copy the log from the partition with the 12.10 release level. 12.10 release never shows a splash screen whether splash is in the linux line or not. Never any cursor. Esc key does a little hard drive activity. Still solid purple screen. Ctrl-Alt-F1 same purple screen, no cursor. does some hard drive activity. I can blindly log in, password, sudo reboot, password and it does. I can also Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then hold down Ctrl-Alt-Del which does reboot. Anything to try? I can re-do the log if it would be useful. ** Attachment added: "plymouth log from booting to solid purple screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1069583/+attachment/3410393/+files/plymouth-debug.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069583 Title: 12.10 boots to solid purple screen ujnless "splash" removed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1069583/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
