I just wanted to add that I had the same problem for a while so I started checking the temp every 10 mins or so and it was solid at 62-65C with a full load. I deduced the only time I had issues with it overheating was when the screensaver was on. I turned it off and set the display to turn off after 30 mins. and it hasn't overheated since. That may help as I believe the fglrx restricted extras are the suspect.
