Gary,

Synaptic package manager crashes if I try to remove zramswap with it.
There are 3 or 4 other people on the forum with the exact same problem
from the last update. Ubuntu update  center freezes. I have tried the
terminal and that also freezes. Here is my terminal output.

Tried this, but again it only gets so far and sticks:
Code: Select allsudo apt-get autoclean
and
Code: Select all
    sudo apt-get autoremove

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure
-a' to correct the problem.

sudo dpkg --configure -a

I also cannot configure a:

This is what worked for at least one person. You have to be on a wire, not
wireless.
Re: ZRamSwap-Installer from Update Package Manager "Stuck"

One think I would recomend at first is to plug
an ethernet cable on your laptop/pc to get internet, reboot, from the
grub menu select the recovery mode (usually the 2nd option) and then
from the new menu that will appear choose "dpkg".
This will update your system and correct broken packages (if any).

OK, I did what Madvinegar suggested in post #2
and all is now good with the world

I work 12 hour shifts and have not had the time to give this a try. My
computer is a wireless tower. That means I have to take it all apart and
mover it to my router.

Again, if you are interested, and it seems more than myself had this problem,
the post is.

Check with my Update Manager. It recommended
that I install ZRAMSwap-Enabler (Size: 3KB). I clicked install. That was
 an hour ago.

About 30 minutes ago, the screen vanished and code
appeared. Then it reverted to Zorin's Applying Changes window. It read
that it was preparing to "zramswap-enabler 0.2.1-0-18~nattyl" with
"zramswap-eanbler 0.2.1-0-19~nattyl all.deb. The program installed the
new system: "Job failed to start." It has attemnpted to install version
19 again, but there's little activity.

Recommendations?

It looks like jymm and I are suffering the exact
same symptoms. I can't seem to do anything with that file.

I downloaded the package from the Ubuntu developers page and tried to
use gdebi to install it again, but it says it is a previous version and
will not do that either.

I am still considering a manual uninstall. Here is what I would uninstall.
Here is what a search finds:
zramswap-enabler.postinst
zramswap-enabler.prem
zswap-enabler.list
zramswap-enabler.conffiles
zramswap-enabler.md5sums
ppa.launchpad.net-shnatsel-zram-ubuntu-dists-natty-main-bianary-i386-packages
ppa.launchpad.net-shnatsel-zram-ubuntu-dists-natty-release
ppa.launchpad.net-shnatsel-zram-ubuntu-dists-natty-main-source-Sources
zramswap.conf
shnatsel-zram-natty.list.save
shnatsel-zram-natty.list

I would like to know if deleting these is okay? No one will answer that
question. If it will make the system unstable and crash, then let me know.

I work all week and then am going on a fishing trip to Canada for a
week. The computer works otherwise, so my wife can use it. It will be at
least two weeks before I can get to it now.

Again, thanks for your help. I hope this helps you figure out what went
wrong with this update. I did some reading and it seems a lot of people
doubt zramswap really does anything for  you, so I just want to remove
it and leave it off for now.

Thanks again,
Jim
end.

Hi again Jim. Did you give this command a try in the terminal?

  $ sudo apt-get -f install

If this does not work, I would suggest you try fixing and/or removing
the package using the Synaptic Package Manager, which you can install
through the Software Center. There is more info here:

  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto

Please let us know how you fare.

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I am using Zorin  5.2 core, an Ubuntu Derivative. Zramswap-eanbler
